Volunteer firefighters in Yorktown helped rescue a motorist from a burning car overnight after it flipped on the Taconic State Parkway and burst into flames.
Members of the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a stretch of the southbound lanes of the Taconic at approximately 3 a.m. on Thursday morning, where there was a report of a car completely engulfed in flames off the shoulder of the roadway.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the car was on its side and quickly went to work to knock down the flames. An occupant from the vehicle had been pulled out of the blaze before firefighters arrived, and he was treated and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The incident is under police investigation, though no cause of the crash has been released.
